Never did I think that I would have to go this far with babyproofing the doors, but my little guy has evolved into somewhat of a “Houdini”. Boy Moms you understand the energy that is involved in keeping our boys (and girls) safe. We tried the door knob caps and all he does is use his thumbs to pop them off (at 19 months old!!!). So, I had to look for a safer solution where, if he moved a chair up to the door, he still couldn’t reach the flip lock. I purchased the lock at Home Depot for $3, but you can find them elsewhere. I found the ones I used in the section across from the door knobs, by the hinges and other door accessories. They have versions that are meant for child proofing, for around $20-30, but for 6 doors, I couldn’t bring myself to spend that much when this would do just fine. I installed them while he was sleeping and when Ethan woke up from his nap he tried to open the door, but gave up quickly as he couldn’t make it budge (win for mommy!!). If you have any questions on how to install the lock, please comment down below.
*This is for informational purposes and is what I use in addition to other babyproofing to keep my family safe. Using the flip lock is not intended to be used as a babysitter and should not replace the parent’s ability to watch their child. This will work for some, but is not meant to be used for every family.
